"Anaïs Tondeur: cultivating yourself alongside the flowers of the margins"

Don’t miss the article in Fisheye’s bimonthly magazine: “Anaïs Tondeur : cultivating yourself alongside the flowers of the margins!”

Winner of the Prix Photographie & Sciences 2023, Anaïs Tondeur talks in detail about her series “Flowers of fire, the testimony of ashes”, a project focusing on plants growing in the Land of Fire in southern Italy, or in the exclusion zone at Chernobyl.

Anaïs Tondeur: “By taking these singular plants as my guides and exploring the process of phytography, I seek to distance my artistic practice from the extractive dynamics in which our modern societies have become engulfed.”

The Prix Photographie & Sciences, created on the initiative of the Résidence 1+2 with the support of several partners (the French Ministry of Culture, ADAGP, CNRS, Picto Foundation, and the magazines Fisheye and Science et Avenir-La Recherche), aims to help a photographer finalize a project that interweaves the two disciplines, and to encourage collaboration between photographers and scientists. Photographers and scientists help draw attention to pressing contemporary issues.

Many thanks to Apolline Coeffet for this article!
