DIANA LUI

LES ÉTOILES DE DIANA

Diana Lui is a French-Belgian artist of Malaysian origin. Well-known photographer and video maker, she defines herself as a multidisciplinary artist. Born in Malaysia in 1968, Diana Lui lived with her parents until she was 14 and then moved to the United States because of politic and economic problems in her native country. After she got a Master of Fines Arts at the Art Center College of Design and a Master at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Diana Lui emigrated to Europe, first to Belgium then to France in 1998. Her works are in several collections such as the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Canton, the Musée de la Photographie, Charleroi, the UCLA…

The question of uprootedness is central in Diana Lui’s artistic creation. At the invitation of the Résidence 1+2 in Toulouse, she made her first photographic residency in France, revisiting, with an assertive and poetic authorial eye, several aspects of Toulouse’s heritage: human, architectural and above all scientific.
